Beginning Stages of Implementing 3D Design
Creating Hybrid Animals Using Play Dough
Students are creating hybrid animals that will be able to survive in a biome assigned to them. They created a poster of information about their animal. the posters included a food chain for their hybrid and information about the adaptations that helped it survive in the biome. The students started with 2D drawing of their hybrid and then created a 3D representation of animal with homemade play dough. The students really enjoyed getting to see their animals come to life!
Creating a Rube Goldberg Machine
In our Energy Unit, students are learning about various types of energy and we read about Rube Goldberg and his crazy machines. The students have watched different videos of complicated inventions that have complex, interconnected parts and identified the types of energy used in the parts. The students then created a blue print for their own machine and then brought their 2D image into 3D life by actually building it. They recorded their machines in action to share with the class.
